Feedback, Questions & Answers Part 3

December 22nd, 2007 by kaushikgala · 2 Comments · Tag(s): ,

This is a summary of the feedback we’ve received over the past couple of months, including our response. Thanks for your help.

Please explain how to read the relative strength chart.

The relative strength chart at the bottom of each stock page at Moneyoga plots the stock price versus the Nifty-50 and any other indices to which it belongs. The chart begins at January 2007, with all prices normalized to 100. If the Nifty has doubled year-to-date, you should see it currently at 200; similarly, if the stock dropped by 30%, it should be at 70. The 200 & 70 values are percentages, not actual prices/values. Also, the interpretation of such a chart would be that the Nifty has significantly outperformed the stock over 2007.

And yes, we will add this to the Page Help for the stock pages in the next release.

The quotes for some stocks are incorrect - eg. Essar Steel (ESTL), Polaris Software (POLARIS), Titan Industries (TITAN).

Thanks for pointing these out. We are fixing them on a case-by-case basis, as well as making broader code changes that will avoid incorrect quotes. Please bear with us, and continue to point out such issues.

Why is the site not updated regularly?

This was a logistical issue. With the two of us traveling every so often, sometimes the end-of-day analytics got delayed by a few hours - or worst case, by a day. Things should remain on schedule going forward.

Can you provide transcripts of in-person interviews with CEO/CFO of several companies?

This is an interesting idea. Obviously, we would need some man-power to do this - so it’ll be a while before we can seriously consider offering this service. We’ll add it to the list of requested features.

There are only numbers in this site. Numbers are very difficult to be interpreted. What interpretation I can arrive from these graphs?

Good point. Soon, we’ll be adding commentary around these numbers, lists & graphs - the idea is to create actionable information for investors & traders. For those that are already using our analytics, do share your thoughts.

The fundamental / financial data for some stocks is incorrect. This in turn affects metrics such as the P/E ratio. Example: TCS.

We are addressing this issue. Since the data available at the SEBI EDIFAR site sometimes needs to be cleaned up, we have to spend effort on a case-by-case basis. Again, do continue to point out discrepancies - this is exactly the the sort of community effort that can help us all!

    Hi,
Is it possible for you to have a table that will show the 10 - 25 most widely held stocks across all the mutual funds?
This table can then be updated regularly based on, whether the funds are sticking to it or no, the percentage increase in performance of stocks across all mutual funds etc.
This will give us retail investors a better idea on what the mutual fund managers are betting on, and can help is in making decisions on investments.
